Chineham Conservation Group

The parish of Chineham has been built around a series of ancient woodlands, linked by the common thread of Petty’s Brook and its tributaries. You may know then as Guinea Copse, Long Copse, Great Sorrels Copse and Tollhouse Meadow and Copse.

Chineham Conservation Group helps to managing these areas of ancient woodland which are so important and rich with wildlife that they have been designated Local Nature Reserves. The work party activities can typically include coppicing, invasive species removal, or managing the brook. We’ve also been running extra occasional events, such as our summer ‘bat walk’ where we identified 7 different species of bat, just in Great Sorrell’s Copse!
