Black Dam & Crabtree Group

Black Dam Nature Reserve & Crabtree Plantation is one of Basingstoke’s finest parks with wonderful views of rolling downland. We help to maintain and improve the wildlife value and public enjoyment of this nature park with tasks such as coppicing, pond clearance, plug planting, and path maintenance.

With a wealth of wildlife knowledge within the existing group, this is a great opportunity to get fit, help the local area, learn some countryside skills and discover new species that are right on our doorstep! The group meet once a month on a Saturday morning mainly from September to  April.

Work parties
Our winter work parties are scheduled once per month October to March on a Saturday morning.  We meet at the Bolton Arch Car Park at 10.00 am and refreshments are provided mid-morning. Do wear clothes suitable for the weather, but all tools are provided.

During the summer months –  April to September –  there are lots of other activities going on. We do butterfly transects and wild flowers surveys among other things.

To keep up to date with news about the park and what is going on you can subscribe to our  e-newsletter by contacting us on  .
