Who are we?

Natural Basingstoke supports and represents the many local community nature conservation groups in the borough. Working alongside Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council we provide training, equipment, development skills and management resources to maximise the biodiversity value of our public green spaces.

We work alongside Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, local companies and other conservation bodies, to promote the protection, enjoyment and understanding of wildlife and the natural environment in our borough.

There are three themes to our activities:

  • Conservation – Acting as a champion and voice for nature to create, restore, maintain and expand a network of wildlife-rich habitat throughout the area
  • Community – Our member groups are made up of local volunteers who deliver hands-on community-led conservation. More
  • Consultation – We work with the local authority and also build partnerships with other parties to protect and promote the biodiversity of our green spaces

How can I get involved?

Anyone and everyone is welcome to come along to any of our groups’ work parties, where depending on the site and the season, you could be coppicing, clearing pond weed, or surveying local wildlife. Check out our Conservation Groups page to see who is nearest to you!
