Help behind the scenes

Not every role in nature conservation involves muddy boots. Natural Basingstoke also needs people who can help behind the scenes to keep the charity organised, visible, sustainable and able to grow.

As a small volunteer-led charity, we rely on people giving their time, skills and experience to help with administration, communications, fundraising, coordination, governance and project support. These roles are essential because they allow our conservation groups, events, campaigns and community projects to reach more people and run more effectively.

We are looking for volunteers who could help us strengthen the charity’s foundations and improve how we communicate our work across Basingstoke and Deane.

Volunteers might help with:

general administration and inbox support;
volunteer enquiries and signposting;
helping maintain records, documents and shared resources;
supporting grant applications and funding research;
preparing simple project plans, reports or meeting notes;
helping with charity governance and trustee administration;
updating website pages and event listings;
drafting social media posts, newsletters or news updates;
creating posters, graphics or simple promotional materials;
helping collect photos, stories and updates from local groups;
supporting press, media or public awareness work;
helping track impact, volunteer hours and project outcomes;
supporting membership, mailing lists or supporter engagement.

We are especially keen to hear from people with experience in administration, communications, social media, website editing, WordPress, Canva, fundraising, finance, HR, project management, volunteer coordination, data management, grant writing, business support or charity governance.

This type of volunteering can often be done from home and at flexible times. It may suit people who want to make a meaningful contribution but cannot regularly attend outdoor sessions.
