Cut Your Own Christmas Tree – Heath Warren Scrub Clearance
With our friends at HIWARG, come and join us for some pre-Christmas fun and help to cut back silver birch, pine and willow which is encroaching on this important area for wildlife. Anyone coming along to help can pick and cut their own pine to take home when finished. There are loads of pines to go round, so you won’t miss out.
Parking is available at: Bramshill Forest Car Park, Bramshill Road, RG27 0PR

Meet at 9.30pm at Bramshill Forest Car Park (see above). We will be working until 3pm, so please bring food and drinks. Forestry England are providing a range of tools, including loppers and tree poppers and also a welfare van with refreshments and a toilet.
Forestry England will open the Heath Warren gates and will lead a small number of vehicles through safer routes to get to the working area.

If you are not staying for the full event, someone will lead a walking party to the working area and you can leave via the same easy route back to the car park when you finish. If walking with them, please make sure you only bring the tools you need and in a bag suitable for carrying to the work area.
We will be clearing silver birch and willow scrub encroachment in the wider area, and are hoping for a large group of volunteers. We are partnering up with Forestry England, the Thames Basin Heath Partnership team and hopefully other voluntary groups.
You will need to bring work/gardening gloves, rough outdoor clothing, with sturdy footwear and to dress according to the weather conditions at the time. If you have loppers, secateurs, etc, please bring them along, but we will have a small selection with us if you don’t have any.
